Who We Are and What We Do |
| We’re modelers who construct and operate a model railway in HO scale (1/87). Our club is located in Dorval, Quebec, on the west end of the Island of Montreal. |
The club railway is named the “West Island and Montreal Railway Company”, with reporting marks “WIMRC” and the slogan “The Lakeshore Route”. |
| We meet weekly throughout the year to have fun running our trains, to work on layout modules and to talk about trains - both life-size and model-size. We occasionally participate in major model railway shows. |
We have members ranging from teen age to senior age. Our minimum age limit is 12 years old. |
| Our layout currently has 22 modules; with two mainline tracks, each about 100 feet long, plus industrial sidings and a train marshalling yard. The modules are built by members, however you do not have to build or own a module to become a club member. |
Our freight and passenger trains are operated using a “Digitrax” Digital Command and Control (DCC) system. |
| We encourage realistic module scenery and train operations representing the steam to diesel locomotive transition era of the 1950’s in Canada and the U.S.A., however members also operate trains from other eras and countries. |

We meet on Tuesday evenings to run our trains and shoot the breeze. We schedule realistic operating sessions on other nights of the week. On Saturdays we work on the modules, occasionally run trains, and do the necessary housekeeping chores. Above all our object is to have fun with the hobby. |
